Facilitating Philanthropic Programs for Corporations and Foundations
As part of its longstanding efforts to strengthen philanthropy in Japan, JCIE facilitates philanthropic programs in Japan for foundations and corporations. JCIE has been deeply involved in corporate philanthropy in Japan since the early 1970s, when it began serving as an information clearinghouse for Japanese corporations on philanthropy and organizing study missions to the United States for corporate executives. In 1979, JCIE founded the Asian Community Trust (ACT), Japan’s first charitable trust supported by general fundraising, and, in 1997, the Levi Strauss Foundation and JCIE launched Japan’s first donor advised fund. JCIE currently supports a variety of philanthropic activities for a range of Japanese and non-Japanese corporations from different industries.
