
Facilitating Philanthropic Programs for Corporations and Foundations
- Ajinomoto International Cooperation for "Nutrition and Health" Support Program—JCIE serves in an advisory capacity for Ajinomoto as well as run the application process for its program to improve the quality of life of people through nutrition and health.
- Asian Community Trust (ACT)—In 1979, JCIE founded the Asian Community Trust, Japan's first charitable charitable trust based on general fundraising, which was modeled on community foundations in the United States. It provided support for grassroots, self-help efforts of nongovernmental organizations involved in sustainable social and economic development across Asia, and in 2001 its operations were spun off to the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC).
- Children's Television Workshop—Starting in 1971, JCIE helped introduce the television show Sesame Street to Japan and it served as an advisor for Children's Television Network until 2003.
- Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program—In 2001 and 2002 JCIE was the secretariat for Goldman Sachs, annual international competition, which rewarded the academic achievement and leadership potential of leading university students.
- Levis Straus Donor Advised Fund of JCIE—From 1997–2004, JCIE joined forces with Levi Strauss & Co. to launch and operate one of Japan's first donor advised funds.
- Lucent Global Science Scholars Program—In 2001 and 2002, JCIE was local competition manager for Lucent's annual competition to reward successful students and encourage the world's youth to pursue careers in information and communications technology.
- Microsoft Japan NPO Cooperation Program—Since 2006, JCIE has been working with Microsoft Japan facilitating the planning, operations, selection process and evaluation of a program of roughly US$180,000 in grants per year.
- Nipponkoa Grant Program—From 2004 to 2008, JCIE managed the planning, operations, and selection process for Nipponkoa Life Insurance's Grant Club, which promotes and matches employee giving. Approximately $27,000 in grants was awarded annually to exemplary Japanese nonprofit organizations involved in international exchange, education, and women's issues.
- Standard Chartered Bank/Seeing Is Believing—From 2005 to 2008, JCIE served as financial intermediary for Standard Chartered Bank’s Japan program to raise funds for international organizations working to allieviate visual impairment in developing countries.
- Tiffany Foundation Award—The Tiffany & Co. Foundation and JCIE operate an awards program to honor and encourage Japanese organizations that help preserve traditional culture and arts and revitalize local communities.
- Toshiba International Foundation Youth Conference for a Sustainable Future—JCIE facilitates US involvement in the Toshiba International Foundations' weeklong youth conference on global environmental issues.
- Voyager Management / SEEDCap Japan—Since 2005, JCIE has operated the Social Entrepreneur Enhanced Development Capital Program for Voyager Management, LLC, an American “fund of funds” investment company, to support Japanese NGOs carrying out innovative projects.
