March 5-7, 1999
The 15th UK-Japan 2000 Group Conference was held on March 5-7, 1999, in the town of Kisarazu in Chiba Prefecture, with the participation of 26 of the Group's members. This conference focused on three topics: (1) the crisis of global capitalism; (2) security issues in the age of globalization; and (3) social security systems in the coming era. During the final session of the conference, participants confirmed the importance of continued efforts by the Group to actively promote UK-Japan collaboration and understanding. Also, it was decided that given the imminent approach of the year 2000, the year should be changed to the "UK-Japan 21st Century Group."
