Human Security
Human security goes beyond concerns about the security of nation-states and their borders to encompass interrelated issues such as disease, environmental degradation, transnational terrorism, and population movements that give rise to insecurity in peoples' lives and ultimately threaten socioeconomic development, political stability, and the security of nation-states. Since the late 1990s, JCIE has been actively exploring the potential of human security as a new policy framework and has sought ways to translate the concept into concrete action.
